April 12, 2002 Katelyn has become extremely
active this month. We lowered her crib mattress to the lowest setting
since she is rolling everywhere. She can crawl about an inch, but that's
about it. It probably won't be long! She is eating pretty much anything stage 2 Gerber at this point and is down to about 20 ounces a day of formula...sometimes less. I weighed her at my grandparents and she was 20 pounds on the nose (if the scale was accurate) so she isn't gaining as much as before which is fine. I think the increase of activity is playing a big part on that end. That's about it! She is in her ultrasaucer right now calling "Maaaaaa" so time to go play!:) |

Months Old Already?! We can't believe it..time really flies when you have
such a sweet baby. This month has been incredible as far as development
goes. Katelyn sits completely unassisted for huge periods of time. She
is such a good girl because even though she loves to explore, she will
sit and read a book happily and play with her blocks...instead of making
me chase her throughout our house:) Gotta love that! Her favorite game
this month is knocking over blocks when we build her a "tower."
This is a great way for her to burn off energy at the end of the day...she
is willing to crawl ANYWHERE you put a block tower:) Which brings me to
the subject of "crawling..." Katelyn has chosen the hard route
so far. She prefers to swim on the ground, scootch, roll...ANYTHING BUT
CRAWL. She does manage to get everywhere so as long as she isn't complaining,
neither are we. Katelyn's big thing this past month is also standing.
Oh she just loves to stand! She holds on to the furniture unassisted beautifully.
Maybe she is going to skip crawling??? Who knows...all I do know is she
is just a joy to have around and listen to. Yup, she is talking up quite
a storm...after hours of reading to her, she finally decided to say "RED
BUG" this month (the poem goes.."Red bug red bug nice and round,
sitting on a big green leaf she found.") Well, she has fallen in
love with this book and one night she just was laying down with the book
and shouted "Red bug!" Will and I (and his cousin Steve) were
shocked! We all sat there in disbelief. She kept going..."red bug...buggy
bug...bug red...red bug..." oh, it was so cute! Figures we couldn't
catch it on video. She says it spontaneously, definitely not on cue.
As far as eating goes, not much has changed yet. I am giving her gerber everything but meats (those look so gross, I just can't do that to her!!!), 3 bottles a day, and finger foods (apple slices, zwieback toast, biter biscuits...). She only has 2 teeth so I am nervous to give her any other big people food just yet. She and I joined mommy & me this month and are having a blast. Who would have thought I would enjoy being a mommy so much?! Daddy is very proud of how happy she is to see him everyday when he comes home from work and I enjoy every second I spend with her...oh so fun!!!!!!! Tomorrow is my first Mother's Day. Will and Katelyn are going on a date later to buy me a gift:) It's a fun job I have! |
