Katelyn's 1st day of Preschool was a huge success. She has already gone to her classroom twice for "practice" which obviously paid off! Her teachers are: Miss Harmony, Miss Bev, and Miss Meghan. We left the house bright and early at 8am...all of us were dressed & fed (big pat on the back from me to me!) and after some pictures we were off in the car to go. Katelyn told Zack in the car "I'm going to school (which sounded like "tool":)hehe) today and they both giggled with excitement. We pulled up in the lot and got out of the car and Katelyn basically dashed into the school with me trying follow behind. Yep, no apprehension there! I explained to her that we had to put her backpack away in her cubby before she could play with her new friends, so we did. After signing her in (that was so cool...signing my name and writing "MOM" next to it as defining my relationship to her...just another reality check for me!), she started to run to the playground. I begged her to come back and kiss me! Truly pathetic...and I never expected to feel that way! She kissed my hand and I kissed hers and we rubbed eachother's cheeks and she said, "Bye mommy, I'll see you after lunch" and so (sigh) that was my cue from Katelyn that it was time for me to leave. All I have to say is that I am so SO proud of my confident happy secure child:) As much as it was hard to walk away and leave her there, I didn't have to be one of the parents who left a sobbing child and I was SO thankful for that. I lingered for just a moment to take the picture of her playing below...and then Zackery and I went on our way to our first day without Katelyn. When I arrived back at the school to pick her up she was happily eating lunch at Miss Bev's table with 5 other kiddos, one of which was sobbing (poor little Kelly). Anyhow, her mouth dropped to the ground when she saw me and she yelled "MOMMY!" and was ecstatic to see me and trust me, the feeling was mutual:) We gave eachother hugs and then I noticed the yucky spots on her everywhere. She had syrup on her from snack (apparently they had pancakes) and dirt and all sorts of goo. So clearly she had fun! The teachers said she did great and apparently took very well to a cute boy named Trevor ...hmmmmmmmmmm;) . Katelyn, being the honest kiddo she is, told me "I cried cause the teacher yelled at me." I asked her why and she said, "The teacher said nono toytime now!" So, there's a reality check for Katelyn! You don't just play at school. She said she, "Wanted mommy" at that point, but then said she was ok again cause she likes school and had a wonderful time and can't wait to go again:) She gave Zack a very big kiss and hug and begged him to play with her when we got home...so there ya have it! Kate's first day! A fun exciting day:)

LET'S GOOOOOOOOO!

I circled her name...

This is the pic I took before I left her...she went immediately up to that boy with the red shorts and started to play with him:)

Here's Katelyn at her "spot"

And here's my happy girl when I came to pick her up!
